About D.Cristine Caivano
D.Cristine Caivano is an exercise/movement therapist and educator in New York City. Originally a professional dancer, she studied at Purchase College. Upon graduating in 1979 she joined the continuing education faculty there, teaching jazz dance for the next 11 years while also choreographing and performing as a modern dancer in New York City.
After receiving her masters degree in dance education from Columbia University in 1989, Cris refocused her work, studying dance therapy at the Laban Institute in London, and running dance/movement therapy programs at two psychiatric hospitals in Sacramento, CA. Upon returning home to NYC in 1991, she developed her current exercise/movement therapy practice, specializing in people over 50 years old. Based on over 25 years of experience and study, her eclectic approach is dedicated to revealing to older men and women that it is never too late to improve the way they move, look, and feel, once they understand how to do it.
Cris Caivano lives and works in NYC and will begin a summer practice in Bar Harbor ME. in 2006.
